Sunshine and Second Chances- Kim Nash-comedy/ women's fiction
Four women -four lives. Each wanting something different from what they have.
One has a son who only wants her for money and won’t do anything himself-
something she has brought about due to his father. Another has a husband and two
children where she caters for every whim (what is it with some parents?) and they
do nothing for themselves. Another has eaten her way through her separation and
knows she needs to start looking after herself before it's too late. The fourth is yet
not telling but the others know that there is something amiss. They all knew each
other from when they were younger and have now gone on a holiday as they are
all around the fifty mark. They have hired a villa in Portugal and can relax and chat
and try and begin to sort out their lives. Kim is a skillful writer. You dive in and turn
the pages and before you know where you are you feel as if you not only know
these ladies but are halfway through as there is that special something about this.
I adored this. It made me smile, it made me think and it (almost) made me cry.
I'm sure it will be appreciated by those of us who have maybe been in one of
the circumstances or other of the women in the storyline. Kim you are a
master of words and emotions and scene setting.
A truly stunning read that I really didn’t want to end.

Sunshine and Second Chances

It’s never too late to be offered a second chance at life.

Debs is newly single, Fiona is caring for her mum, Samantha is grieving, and Liv has the perfect life – or so she’d like her friends to think…

This year, these four life-long friends are turning fifty, and Liv is determined they will honour their promise to each other – made on a beach at sunrise twenty-nine years before – to celebrate this milestone together.

And what better place than a gorgeous villa where they will be spoiled and enjoy the stunning beaches, picturesque fishing towns and glorious climate of the Algarve?

But time away from home doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. Sometimes it makes the thought of returning to your life too hard to bear. Especially with more than one gorgeous Portuguese man making hearts unexpectedly flutter...

It begins as a reunion in the sunshine, but little do the four friends know what life-changing decisions they’ll all be making before their flight home.

A heart-warming, feel-good summer read about friendship, love and second chances.
