Turn To Dust by Rachel Amphlett- police procedural.
A body is found in a field my two men out metal detecting. When the police arrive this
is something far from normal from what has happened to the poor victim. Detective
Kay Hunter and her team are put to the test when investigating this as it appears from
his injuries he could have fallen from a plane- naked. Nothing seems to add up and
even when a name is discovered there is little to nothing to go on. I enjoyed this, as it
is different from many crime novels in that it is only from the police side  there is no
victim story or plot for the duration of the book-. I found it interesting as to how they
went about the different lines of investigation despite having read many many other
crime books over the years. This is one of a series and happily stands alone - I haven’t
yet read the others in the series. There is some background to the detectives which to
me gives them a nice depth of character and a roundedness not just to their role in
the plotline. A clever well thought out plot which kept me within the pages.
A highly entertaining interesting read.
