Slow Slicing DI Bliss #7 by Tony J Forder

"WHEN DEATH BECOMES THE KINDEST CUT OF ALL"
One treasure of a read Bliss is back-yay! Bliss at Peterborough has a case like no other
he has known in all his long years. A bag has been found by the cathedral in the city
containing a slice of human flesh. When another appears at a long barrow near
Swindon D.I Bliss is called in to head up both cases as they have to be linked.
Each slice has letters carved into it- not anything that makes
sense at this point. Meanwhile a man is pleading to die as he is suffering beyond
comprehension, being tortured. With no obvious victim and very little to go on how wil
l Bliss and his teams get to the bottom of this one? This is the seventh in the Bliss series
and would probably stand alone however at least  having read some of the others would
make this more sense- and why miss out on other cracking reads? (all 5* from me). Bliss
has humour, a little romance and much camaraderie and banter with Chandler and the
rest of his team. There is a very human touch to Tony’s books which for me is why they
come across so very well- it's not just a plot and someone doing their job as such.
I loved the references back to Molly- a special character in the last book.  My avuncular
friend and a couple of words to describe reading this-pure  Bliss.

Book Description:

The bestselling author of the compelling DI Bliss crime series is back with another stunning novel.
WHEN DEATH BECOMES THE KINDEST CUT OF ALL
When slices of flesh and body parts are discovered in different areas of the country, DI Bliss and his team are tasked with running the operation. After Bliss realises the victims have been subjected to a specific form of torture, it leads him to a cold case involving the brutal and bloody murder of a woman in London twenty-six years earlier.

As the team discover links between their victims, the murdered woman, and gangland crime, they begin a dangerous investigation into both the past and the present. But Bliss is stumped, unable to decide if the current spate of mutilations are acts of revenge or the result of ageing criminals seeking to hide their despicable actions. Following a leak to the media, Bliss’s reaction may have dire consequences.

With the hunt for the victims at fever point, Bliss uncovers evidence steering him in the direction of one particular individual. The only problem being, his prime suspect is the one person it cannot possibly be. When Bliss orders a sting operation, the astonishing truth is revealed. And that’s when things really start to go wrong…
