A Mother Like You - Ruby Speechley- Psychological thriller

Kate and her husband James have decided not to have a family only Kate now

realises that she is pregnant. She really isn't sure about telling James as their

whole world will change and she is 45 and thinking this may not last. She is

getting texts and letters threatening her unless she pays £30 -money she really

doesnt have. We don’t know what this is yet about or who from, only that

Kate has a secret past, a secret she has been keeping for over twenty years.

Her ex Paul knows her secret and is threatening to tell . Meanwhile her

mother whom she has been estranged from until recently is ill and also

has her own secrets she now wants to share. Paul says the threats

are not from him, so who is telling her that she should be dead?

Oooh!! One of those reads that begins as slightly domestic noir and

before you know it , there is that sense of unease that something is

lurking. What on earth is Kate’s secret and who is the mystery person?

This is brilliantly written and made me want to turn ever faster.

A thrilling read and a captivating plot.
