The Kings Market Killer - Frances Lloyd- Crime

If you want a read to give you a mystery and a smile then this could be the

book. This reminded me of a murder/ farce in a very good way. There are

affairs of the heart, plottings of murder, art fraud and theft, poisonings and

so on- all set in a small market town where a newspaper blowing down

the street would normally make the headlines. A downtrodden woman

by both her husband and live-in mother in law decides she has had

enough. Ida, the mother in law treats her like a servant and is worshipped

by her son- she even went on their honeymoon!

A likeable detective in the form of Jack Dawes( love that name) and a

sidekick of “Bugsy” Malone. A rasta, ganga smoking, rum drinking

market stall holder starts the whole thing off by being rather more

wobbly than normal and promptly dropping dead. His heart wasn’t

that bad- was it? A wonderful plot with some larger than life

characters- just the read to brighten up this world of our at the moment.

A highly recommended read.

The Kings Market Killer by Frances Lloyd

A DENSELY PLOTTED MURDER MYSTERY PACKED WITH SHOCKING TWISTS

You can get anything at the Kings Market — a vibrant, noisy hotchpotch of stalls, rammed with bustling traders, each with their own colourful stories.

But now some people are getting more than they bargained for.

Fenella Wilson has had enough of her rude, sniping mother-in-law, Ida. And she’s sick of her husband always siding with Ida.

Fenella and her friend cook up a plan to slip anti-freeze into her homemade jam.

Jericho, the elderly owner of the Jamaican music stall is found dead. Apparently, his heart gave out . . .

Detective Jack Dawes has a lot on his plate. And now even his wife is under suspicion.

WHO’S IN THE MARKET FOR MURDER?

Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie, LJ Ross, JR Ellis, Angela Marsons or Faith Martin.

MEET THE DETECTIVES
Detective Inspector Jack Dawes, tall and handsome, looks like the fuzz even when he’s off-duty. He rose up through the ranks at Scotland Yard and now is a well-respected detective in the murder squad. A career copper, he was married to the job until he met Coriander during a money laundering investigation, the case which earned him his promotion to DI. He has logical analytical skills.
