A Future Murder

A FUTURE MURDER BY LINDA MATHER- Crime

Jo is an astrologer and works with her friend in a bookshop doing consultations above the shop. She used to be a PI but has put this behind her , so she thinks, for the astrologer business which she loves. One day her old boss walks in asking for her help on a case. A woman is thought to have been passing information about the company she works for and they have been following her. Jo is needed to attend an event to find out more. When the woman is knocked off her bike and then her friend is killed the case ramps up.

I quickly got into this. It's a cosy crime type read where most of the characters know each other to an extent and there’s an easy feel about reading it. I liked Jo and her easy going attitude whilst being very determined and observant. This is part of a series but happily stands alone- I hadn't read the other in the series. Also a new author to me and one I will most definitely look out for in the future. A great plot and wonderful characters. I very much look forward to the rest in the series.

A FUTURE MURDER BY LINDA MATHER MEET YOUR NEW FAVOURITE PRIVATE DETECTIVE AND ACE ASTROLOGER JO HUGHES. Perfect for fans of Faith Martin, Hannah Hendy, Ian Moore, Lis Howell, L.J. Ross, Kristin Wright, Cathy Ace or Richard Osman. Jo Hughes has almost forgotten her career as a PI. Her astrology business is showing all the signs of success, and she’s helping out in the Rivermill Bookshop. Yet, suddenly there’s David Macy, her old boss, walking through the door, eating a cherry Bakewell, asking her to help on a case. And Jo can’t resist. Macy needs Jo to attend a networking event on ‘Future Skills’ in Bournemouth. The target is Flora Howell, suspected of selling information about the company she works for to their bitter rivals. Jo agrees to go undercover — it’s just for one night after all. But Jo can’t help getting drawn in, especially when Flora tells Jo she’s looking for a missing friend. Almost immediately afterwards Flora gets knocked off her bike in a hit-and-run accident and is left fighting for her life. Then a body is discovered in a nearby lake, stabbed to death. The victim is the friend Flora was so desperately looking for earlier. Who wanted Flora and her friend dead, and why? It’s up to Jo to read the signs and uncover the truth before it’s too late. LINDA MATHER
Linda Mather is writing the fifth book in a crime fiction series about an astrologer who is also a private detective. This whole idea started when Linda was sixteen and her brother bought her a book on astrology, which really grabbed her imagination. She has done a lot of other things since including working for a short time as a PI herself; she has rescued stranded whales in Scotland and set up graduate schemes in Scandinavia. Her experiences – and particularly the settings – often provide the inspiration for great stories. Apart from writing, Linda is interested in fitness and of course, astrology.
