Murder Under The Mistletoe by Liz Fielding

MURDER UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Liz Fielding - Cozy Crime

Another treasure of a read from Liz Fielding.  Abby Finch runs Earthly Designs, her garden business and has not long lost her husband so is bringing up their three children alone as well as juggling the business . She is asked to help with the church hall Christmas decorations and finds she suddenly has a death rather close by and it turns out it's no accident. The man who was meant to be putting the star on the tree is rather rude and brash and disliked by many. Abby, being rather curious and having a nose for detective work, finds he has been blackmailing several people and she is trying to get to the bottom of things without him knowing. Then things take a rather different turn, which throws things completely. Who is behind all of this and why, and is Abby herself in danger?

This is such a wonderful read. It's one that you quickly get into and take to the characters, or not in one case! It's a cozy type set up and is the perfect book to curl up by the fire with. This is the second book in the series but happily stands alone (the first is Murder Amongst the Roses- another 5* from me). It's a lovely easy read, a clever plot and a great mystery which kept my interest all the way through and I didnt have a clue as to “whodunnit”. A brilliant plot ensconced in a truly magnificent read. Loved it.

When the lights turn back on Edward is dead. It soon becomes clear it was no accident. The real victim should have been Gregory Tatton, a dapper silver fox, popular with the ladies of the seniors’ lunch club. And a known blackmailer . . . Abby is desperate to know the truth, but putting herself in danger isn’t on her Christmas list. Who’s been naughty? Who’s been nice? Who’s hiding the fact they’re a murderer? Fans of Faith Martin, Jane Adams, Frances Evesham, M.C. Beaton, Clare Chase or Jeanne M. Dams will love this addictive cozy mystery! MEET THE DETECTIVE Brilliant gardener and the busy mum of three, Abby Finch’s dreams of winning gold at Chelsea Flower Show were put on hold by an unplanned pregnancy and marriage. But she wouldn’t have it any other way. These days she’s kept on her toes looking after her beloved family, running her own business and dealing with her imminent divorce. In an effort to keep things cordial, she’s allowed her ex to bully her into restoring the garden of his family home. Thankfully she’s surrounded herself with a great group of friends to lean on. THE SETTING Pretty Maybridge is a charming village set in the sheep-dotted Cotswolds hills, with a long history stretching back to Tudor times. It’s the type of place where everyone knows each other, but there's a wonderful bookshop on the corner of the bridge, a popular riverside café and a bustling market at Christmastime. And with Bristol nearby and a big supermarket round the corner. ALSO BY LIZ FIELDING A MAYBRIDGE MURDER MYSTERY Book 1: MURDER AMONG THE ROSES Book 2: MURDER UNDER THE MISTLETOE
