The Professor by Stewart Giles

The Professor by Stewart Giles- crime

Smith is off work taking time owed to pursue his dream of being in a band only its not going too well. Meanwhile the rest of the team are dealing with the death of a law student who it appears has been strangled but has a strange moniker on her stomach. When there is another death and Smith finds out who the law professor is, he decides to come back to work. Who is doing this and why?

Yet another read from Stewart where within the first few pages I was hooked and didn't want to put it down. It's clever and well calculated (as ever) and knowing Stewart's collection of guitars I wonder if there is a tad of him in Smith? It's a fab plot and written with a little suitable humour in all the right places, Smith being well… Smith! Stunning, brilliant, clever.. Need I say more other than a huge 5*?

THE PROFESSOR (Detective Jason Smith #33) by Stewart Giles

From bestselling author: Stewart Giles comes another brilliant addition to the Detective Jason Smith.

How do you catch a killer when the law is on their side?

Smith is brought back from a self imposed hiatus from work when a blast from the past comes to his attention.

His old law professor has confessed to the murders of two of his students.

Smith smells a rat. And when it becomes apparent that the professor has an alibi for both murders, he finds himself in the middle of a deadly game.

This isn't about how murders are solved and the people responsible are punished, this is much more disturbing.

This is about the law, and if Smith is to beat the most devious killer he's ever encountered, he's going to have to cross a line he never imagined he'd have to cross.

The Professor is going to make Smith wish he'd stayed at home.

Stewart Giles – Author Bio

After reading English at 3 Universities and graduating from none of them,

I set off travelling around the world with my wife, Ann, finally settling in

South Africa, where we still live.

In 2014 Ann dropped a rather large speaker on my head and I came up

with the idea for a detective series. DS Jason Smith was born. Smith,

the first in the series was finished a few months later.

3 years and 8 DS Smith books later, Joffe Books wondered if I would be

interested in working with them. As a self-published author, I agreed.

However, we decided on a new series - the DC Harriet Taylor:

Cornwall series.

The Beekeeper was published and soon hit the number one spot in

Australia. The second in the series, The Perfect Murder did just as well.

I continued to self-publish the Smith series and Unworthy hit the

shelves in 2018 with amazing results.  I therefore made the decision

to self-publish The Backpacker which is book 3 in the Detective Harriet

Taylor series which was published in July 2018.

After The Backpacker I had an idea for a totally new start to a series

– a collaboration between the Smith and Harriet thrillers and The

Enigma was born. It brought together the broody, enigmatic Jason

Smith and the more level-headed Harriet Taylor.

The Miranda trilogy is something totally different. A psychological

thriller trilogy. It is a real departure from anything else I’ve

written before.

The Detective Jason Smith series continues to grow. I also have

another series featuring an Irish detective who relocated to

Guernsey, the Detective Liam O’Reilly series. There are also

3 stand alone novels.
