Sickness on the Island by Stewart Giles

Sickness on the Island by Stewart Giles- crime

There’s some strange illness on the island, witnessed first hand by DI O’Reilly when he is in a restaurant. A man seemingly the worse for wear drops down dead. That same evening several other people suffered the same fate. Was it a heart attack? O’Reilly doesn't think so due to the look on the man's face and his sweaty pallor. There has been a spate of break ins which are also odd as they were very organised and a speedy in-and-out, but nothing apparently taken. What is going on and why?

Oh boy! Another one of Stewart’s books that I don’t want to put down and wouldn't if real life didn't get in the way. Its tense, its gripping and tantalises the reader. The characters, as ever, are wonderful and there is O’Reilly. A keen detective determined to see justice done with his own way of doing things and humour along with some home life thrown in for good measure- a balance Stewart gets very right. The only down side for me is that I get through these books far too quickly, as they are so exciting. A stunning brilliant read I more than loved. Five huge stars

SICKNESS ON THE ISLAND (Detective Liam O’Reilly #16) by Stewart Giles

From bestselling author: Stewart Giles comes another brilliant addition

to the Detective Liam O’Reilly series.

When over a dozen people succumb to a sudden sickness on the island, and most

of them don't pull through, Detective Inspector Liam O'Reilly is instantly suspicious.

It doesn't take long to get to the source of the sudden deaths of so many

unconnected victims. But when the truth about why so many innocent islanders

had to perish becomes apparent, O'Reilly finds himself in a predicament, the likes

of which he could never have imagined. The sickness on the Island has its roots in

something much deeper, and when O'Reilly finally works out the real reason for

the sudden deaths of so many islanders, it's going to make him question his decision

to move to the Island in the first place.

Stewart Giles – Author Bio

After reading English at 3 Universities and graduating from none of them, I set off travelling around the world with my wife, Ann, finally settling in South Africa, where we still live.

In 2014 Ann dropped a rather large speaker on my head and I came up with the idea for a detective series. DS Jason Smith was born. Smith, the first in the series was finished a few months later.

3 years and 8 DS Smith books later, Joffe Books wondered if I would be interested in working with them. As a self-published author, I agreed. However, we decided on a new series - the DC Harriet Taylor: Cornwall series.

The Beekeeper was published and soon hit the number one spot in Australia. The second in the series, The Perfect Murder did just as well.

I continued to self-publish the Smith series and Unworthy hit the shelves in 2018 with amazing results.  I therefore made the decision to self-publish The Backpacker which is book 3 in the Detective Harriet Taylor series which was published in July 2018.

After The Backpacker I had an idea for a totally new start to a series – a collaboration between the Smith and Harriet thrillers and The Enigma was born. It brought together the broody, enigmatic Jason Smith and the more level-headed Harriet Taylor.

The Miranda trilogy is something totally different. A psychological thriller trilogy. It is a real departure from anything else I’ve written before.

The Detective Jason Smith series continues to grow. I also have another series featuring an Irish detective who relocated to Guernsey, the Detective Liam O’Reilly series. There are also 3 stand alone novels.
