The Stonemasons Song by Tony J Forder
The Stonemasons Song by Tony J Forder- Crime 8th Dec
Bliss is back! Yay! Ex DI Bliss is now working both a cold case unit and is occasional SIO with the MCU, albeit now as a civilian. After over 40 years in the force you would think he had seen it all, but the occasional thing still takes him by surprise. A body is found near a concrete road support, the odd thing being that the long lead victim has a chisel sticking out of his head. This makes Jimmy think back to an old case where a compass was used, the link to him being the Mason’s. Could someone either be in this organisation or want to point the finger at them? The cold case unit is working on another victim who travelled from Wisbech to London unexpectedly and ended up dead. How and why?
Tony’s books take me to another world. Not only is there a cracking plot or two but there is the most meticulous research , this time into the world of the Masons which I found most interesting and where the “Stonemasons song” takes its name from. Bliss is such a wonderful character, my avuncular friend who “lives” in my head. He takes risks but has a big heart and soaks things up both audibly and visually when no-one else is listening and takes the reader through his ups and downs. This is the last one and will leave a big hole in my heart. That said I have every intention of re-reading the whole series- they really are that special. Thank you Tony from the bottom of my heart for such a brilliant character who has touched me in so many ways. He’s sharp (in both senses), he’s kind, astute, generous, witty and someone I’d dearly like to give a huge hug to. (Bliss as well as Tony) I’ll miss Jimmy and his life philosophies dearly. A stunning, brilliant, cleverly crafted series I can’t recommend highly enough. 10* isn't enough. If there was a word for the superlative of superlatives this is where I would use it. Thank you doesn’t seem enough <3
