My books of the year 2024

My books of the year 2024

These are only in the order I read them. All received my special 5** rating, only awarded to books that had that extra special something and were memorable. The ones that were moving, or brought out emotion in an exceptional way. Ones I would, and will more than happily read again.

1. Frank and Red by Matt Coyne

A treasure of a read, one that brought out so many feelings in many different ways. I smiled and I cried.  One with more than just a story. A true gem.

2. Lean on Me by Beth Moran

A truly stunning read, one that is inspirational and reflective, one that stopped me in my tracks in a very good way. A feel good read with that something different.

3. The Day Shelley Wodehouse Woke Up by Laura Pearson

A book I didn't want to end and an author whom I'll read without even looking at the synopsis (and I'm very selective as I only have so much time to read) so don't say that lightly- it only applies to a few select authors. Stunning, brilliant and every other superlative.

4. A Single Act of Kindness by Samantha Tonge

One that wraps itself around you like a hug. A treasure and one I was fully immersed in, in so many ways. One to restore faith in human nature. A resonating read.

5. The Girl from Berchtesgaden by Alistair Birch and Kim Rigby

A book that made me hold my breath and didn't want to put down. One that enthralled me and a book of hope.

6. Becoming Ted by Matt Cain

Oh be still my beating heart. I loved Ted and wanted to give him a hug, so invested was I with this.
(maybe one day I can hug Matt instead and ask him to pass it on?!). A read about being you and being true to yourself. A life affirming read.

7. The Garden of Memories by Amanda James
A stunningly beautiful book that wrapped itself around me, one where joy leaps through the pages. Of reflection and mindfulness. A true gem, a prize bloom.

8. The Life Impossible by Matt Haig

Its different, its brilliant, its stunning and one most certainly to remember. " to see the light you need to have seen the dark"

9. One Midnight with you by Shari Low

I smiled, I held my breath and I cried. Another author where I don't need to read the synopsis before I dive in and everything else in life drifts away. Stunning and beautiful, something specailto behold.

10. Friends of Dorothy by Sandi Toksvig

This is such a wonderful read, one that restores faith in human nature and made me smile and even cry. (thanks Sandi!) . A joy, a treasure, a real gem.

11. The Cottage by the Sea by Keri Beevis

There are some books we say we cant put down- this one was like glue, and one I galloped through wanting to find out more. One of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read- and I've read an awful lot! Stunning, captivating, twisty, brilliant

12. Sanctuary by Patricia Dixon

This is more than a book or a story. It's a real life manual of dealing with whatever issues life throws at you, doing your best, which is all you can do, moving forward. Sometimes all one needs is sanctuary wherever that maybe. Stunning, brilliant, thought provoking. 10*
