After you Fell by J.S. Lark-psychological thriller Helen has been given a new heart. She has been ill almost as long as she can remember and this now gives her a new start and maybe more than anything the children she craves. She has just left her live in boyfriend and now lives with her brother and his family. Whilst recuperating she takes it upon herself to try and find out who the donor heart belonged to and being bipolar she gets rather fixated on this and so tells no-one else what she is doing. She inveigles her way into Louise’s family to get to her children as her heart is telling her that is what Louise wants her to do. Louise died by falling off a tall building and Helen also thinks there is something rather amiss about how this happened. Helen believes that she hears and feels Louise’s emotions especially when she is with Alex (the father) and the children and even that she has been pushed and that things have moved. Wrong Victim- Helen Durrant -Crime A man is found dead in a care home. Nothing too odd until it is discovered that one of his fingers is missing and that there has been confetti spread across his body. When he turns out not to be the person he checked in as DCI Rachel and Sergeant Elwyn and team have their work cut out. There are links to a trafficking ring and Rachel’s ex which she is keen to keep away from her new boss whom she has been warned is not to be trusted. There has been a scam around building properties that never existed and so more goes into the mix. I love these books. There is always a good solid plot to keep the grey matter working and nothing too gory or horrific to give you nightmares. Well rounded characters that you can easily take to that also have enough of a backstory to give them life without too much to detract from the main plot. Helen has a true talent and magic to envelop the reader quickly and easily and keep the plot flowi...

Bad Magic- A.M Stirl in g - Richard runs an art gallery. Unfortunately it’s not doing too well and he only gets by from cheques from his aunt. Twenty years ago his cousin Amanda bullied and abused him and he now meets her again after this long gap. He now has a girlfriend and the tension between him and Amanda is rather telling to say the least. He has heard rumours about her past as well as his own experiences. Is she up to her old tricks again and could someones life be in danger? A book mainly about relationships and families with secrets and how complex they can be and how things that have happened many many years before can form our judgement of someone in stone, something that is very difficult to change. Of who to trust and who not to turn your back on, just in case they stab you. For me a little convoluted, but nevertheless an interesting read.
