Open Your Eyes

Open your Eyes- Heather J Fitt-  psychological thriller

Oh wow! A debut novel that instantly comes across as a seasoned author. Sit down and hold on tight! Frankie is a reporter on an Edinburgh newspaper and has been doing feature articles but wants to cut her teeth on something rather more gitty- crime if at all possible. There have been several rapes in the area however the victims all describe what appears to be different men and its only been made known once prostitutes were not the only targets. Have things really moved on since the Yorkshire ripper days? When she gets the break she has dreamt of things don’t quite go to plan and online comments, as we all know, have come to bite her in a way she was not expecting. She innocently writes a piece on the history of valentine's day and then one on international women's day which attracts the wrong sort of attention. She is then the subject of revenge attacks and a whole lot more

OMG! I genuinely couldn't put this down- its so well written and gripping I wanted to race through the whole thing (real life got in the way unfortunately ). I took to Frankie and this opened my eyes to what sadly is out there on something I knew nothing about. Yes this is fiction but things like this do exist (look up incel - wiki is a good source) and many murders have been commited through this. A well researched, stunningly written novel . Please go start the next one Heather-and may I be first in the queue? A huge 5* from me and more if I could.

A Scottish journalist enters a dark online world in this unsettling novel of men, women, resentment, and rage... Edinburgh reporter Frankie has finally been assigned a high-profile crime story about a series of sexual assaults, and relishes her big break. Her article focuses on the issue of women’s safety, which doesn’t seem to have improved much since the era of the Yorkshire Ripper. When she faces a torrent of abuse online, it leads her to discover the phenomenon of incels— and puts her in the sights of those trying to stop her covering the story. But she refuses to back down. What she doesn’t realise is that in this murky online world, one man is being goaded into a spectacular and shocking attack with Frankie as his main target...
