The Fathers, the Sons and the Anxious Ghost by [Adams, Jamie]
The Fathers, The Sons and the Anxious Ghost - Jamie Adams- Fiction
This is a short contemporary fiction novella about three men. All have children
at the same school. A connection is made between two of the men at a play done
by the children and one running amok. Not long after one of them suffers a
catastrophic loss which brings them closer together. The first part of the book
is written from their perspective. The second is from their children’s viewpoint
ten years later and the last is the anxious ghost. This made me a little sad as
the story unravelled itself and reflections of life were revealed. An event from
many years before triggers so much- the domino effect- and how lives are
irrevocably altered. I won’t say too much as it’s a novella so won’t spoil it.
A poignant, thought provoking read

Blurb
Three guys in their thirties have something in common. Their children all go to the same school. One
day a tragic event leads to them having to deal with a lurking aftermath which draws them into each
other’s lives and causes them to rethink their attitudes to just about everything.

The children tell the second part of this story, ten years after the initial events. The dust seems to

have settled until one of them uncovers information that throws everything back into chaos.

The third part… well that will have to wait.
