Looking for Lulu-Carl Granger- Dark crime

Think Hannibal Lecter ...liver and chianti-  Four young women are missing.

There is no apparent link and nothing has been found however they are all

of a similar look about them. DI Oscar Smith- the anglicised version of his

real name is a misogynistic, racist, homophobic chauvenist(thats his teams

description pretty much)  and has a male team who put up with his

comments as he has an astounding clear up rate. He is left wanting after

picking up a young woman for sex and then she disappeared along with

his wallet. He is now on the hunt for Lulu. A female is brought in on a

consultancy basis to give the female view and stands up to Oscar

reminding him that this is the 21st century and how he should behave.

He does have another side however- his Oma- his grandmother- who

taught him to ski and how to tackle life at the same time. A character

I really didn't think I would take to but who grew on me- he did

have a caring side after all (and that's not giving anything away)

shown by his tenacity to catch the perpetrator. A very different

read- and other than the odd brief description of casseroles and

ribs there is nothing too gory -it is however in parts very dark

and disturbing . A read that made me wince at times, one of

the darkest books I have ever read.

A debut novel and a stunning one- an excellent storyteller.

BLURB

Amazon Reader Reviews ***** One of The Darkest Stories I have ever read ..Pitch Dark Storytelling ***** What an astonishing first thriller! ***** It's weird and gory, but keeps you wanting more ***** OMFG this book….where do I begin! It is dark and disturbing and will most certainly make you squirm. You could be sitting next to him in a pub. You’d never notice him. But he would see you. None of his victims had ever noticed him, sitting there, glancing occasionally at them. Even if they had, they would have seen no cause for alarm. Bland. Uninteresting. A civil servant going home to his equally bland wife and children at the end of another working day. Anonymous. Invisible. Faceless. That’s what they had all thought. But they were all wrong. Now only the ever-growing spinney of trees bears testimony that they had once existed. Is hard-bitten ex-Military Police captain, Detective Inspector Oscar Smith up to the task of tracking him down? And as you turn the pages to meet the killer, will you ever find sleep again? Looking for Lulu Carl Granger © 2020 Granger-Schmidt Publications
