Life's A Banquet by Robin Bennett-Autobiography

This is an autobiography of someone who by his own admission isn’t that famous :)
Sorry Robin but I had to look you up so that puts me instantly in a category!
Wikipedia describes him as “ British entrepreneur, writer, and documentary producer.
He is the founder of The Bennett Group, including Aktuel Translations, a global
translation company, London Tutors, River Consulting, Comp Kennels, 1155 and
Monster Books, an independent publishing house.” The blurb for this book
tempted me “ an unofficial ‘guide book’ to negotiating your way through life –
through education, family life and business, to relationships, marriage, failure and
rejection”. I knew I had picked up the right book when within the first few pages
I was smiling at Robin as a child being left behind by his father who was keen to
make his escape with a goose he had shot and in his haste forgot his child!
(Sorry Robin). Through boarding school and all it entails to an eclectic family and
tales of pre military training whilst at school. There are numerous humorous
anecdotes in this which brought the whole story to life. I may not “know” Robin
but found this interesting and fascinating- and learnt a couple of things along the
way too. How he began in marketing to finding his wife. From being skint and the
wrong side of the law to being comfortable through sheer hard work. I love the
Epilogue, the words of wisdom -people who always know what to do- People
called Tom (made me think of Tom in the Goodlife- loved him) and most of all
“Fact is sometimes those in charge of being nicest to you aren’t. However if
you stick to the above, there will always be someone on your side” Loved
this- Thanks Robin- I now know who you are!

Life’s A Banquet If life gives you lemons, add gin (love this!!)   Life’s a Banquet is the unofficial but essential ‘guide book’ to negotiating your way through life – through education, family life and business, to relationships, marriage, failure and rejection. Aged 21, Robin Bennett was set to become a cavalry officer and aged 21 and a half, he found himself working as an assistant grave digger in South London – wondering where it had all gone wrong. Determined to succeed, he went on and founded The Bennett Group, aged 23, and since then has gone on to start and run over a dozen successful businesses in a variety of areas from dog-sitting to cigars, translation to home tuition.
