The Secret Letters- Taryn Leigh -womens contemporary fiction

"    CAN SECRETS REMAIN HIDDEN FOREVER?"
Rachel is a psychotherapist and has a long term boyfriend in Will. After eleven years with
no sign of things going forward she is starting to think that he may not be the one, and in
fact things may even be drifting apart. Many years ago Rachel was attacked and almost
raped, something very few people know about her. Out with her dogs she meets Mr
Lemon an elderly gentleman and they get talking. Rachel works with Will’s brother
Ruari who is sometimes more supportive than his sibling but still keeps a distance.
When Rachels attacker carries out the threat of his last words to her , she understandably
retreats into her shell to protect herself from the world. After the first attack she received
a series of letters from someone who clearly cared about her but remained anonymous.
I really enjoyed reading this. There was something about Rachel and especially Mr Lemon
that I took to. Warmth and depth of character, a good plot line and descriptions of sounds
and smells that at times I wanted to be there to experience it. A wonderful read with a
serious subject at its heart and about overcoming the things that sometimes stop us in our
tracks and retreat. “Hardships prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny”
(C.S Lewis) Loved this so much.
