Darker Days To Come

Darker Days To Come-Tony J Forder- Crime

Bliss, pure bliss. Forgive me but I have a rather soft spot for DI Bliss and Tony never fails to deliver- this is another brilliant read. This time Bliss, Penny  and the team have rather a quandary on their hands. A man has apparently committed suicide but was seen moments beforehand in tears apparently pleading on his phone. His house has been turned over, his car discovered in a lake and his wife and child are missing. What on earth is going on? Bliss also has a vehicle handed over by some known dodgy characters, one of whom is a CHIS that “stinks of bleach and has blood on the front seat” hence their handing it over. The two operations don’t as yet really fall to the MCU however Bliss and team think there is far more going on from the little they have.

Bliss has that certain “ je ne sais quoi” about him. He says what he thinks although he has reigned it in slightly and now learns to engage his brain before the size 10’ s so to speak- however he still has that wry sense of humour and logic that is so admirable. Reading this series is such a pleasure. There's a warmth of character, an excellent depth of plot and twists to keep the grey matter active without straining it too much if you know what I mean? Something that makes it such a sincere joy to read. A truly wonderful read, skillfully written and one I didn't want to end. Can't help but love J-dog and his team (and of course Molly). Love this to bits.

Darker Days to Come, by Tony J Forder, is the the ninth full-length novel in his widely acclaimed UK crime series, based in Peterborough and featuring DI Jimmy Bliss. It will be published on 14 March 2022.

In this book, Tony veers back towards the more procedural elements of crime investigation, with the team working under enormous pressure – which only increases with every new piece of information they unearth.

DI Bliss and his team absorb two new cases which don’t initially present as major crimes.

But who is the man who stepped in front of an express train? Did he willingly commit suicide or was he coerced? And what, if any, connection is there to an abandoned vehicle whose owner cannot be traced?

As Bliss and his team dig deeper they soon realise there are three people now missing – a journalist, a mother, and her young daughter. But as the investigations continue, the team struggle with too many unanswered questions. What they do know is that lives are at risk, and the chances of finding all three still alive decrease with each passing hour...
