The Ultimate Village Game

The Ultimate Village Game by Beth Merwood- Cosy suspense / mystery ** GIVEAWAY *****

Lucy has returned to the village where she grew up, a village known for its annual village game- a treasure hunt with a stunning prize donated by the Lord of the manor.. She works at the local care home and lives with her dog and knows most of the locals. Lucy appears to have a secret and a plan- she thinks someone may be watching her- we know little about this to begin with or even why this is happening. She is plotting and planning waiting for the right time whilst trying to reinvent herself to be more outgoing and sociable. As time goes on she likes her new self and abandons whatever scheme she originally had in mind. There's something from her past which she is desperately trying to put behind her but does anyone know her secret?

I really enjoyed this. For the most part it's a drama/contemporary fiction type read and an enjoyable easy one for any age. There’s nothing gory or upsetting and it’s a nice change to have something like this. No bodies in the library! Lucy is a very likeable character and very much cares for her work at the care home, something not everyone could do. If you fancy a more lighthearted read this could be the perfect book- it would make a good holiday read.  A very enjoyable and highly recommended book.
