The Silent Bride

The Silent Bride by Shalini Boland - psychological thriller

When the wedding of your dreams becomes a nightmare…..Alice is rather excited. She is marrying Seth, a doctor and he is moving to her home town once they are married. Her friends haven't met him yet as when they arrange a night out inevitably his work gets in the way and him travelling from his current location is a distance. At the wedding half way down the aisle Alice comes to a halt. The groom isn't Seth and his parents are also imposters. What on earth is going on? This is written in the first person from Alice’s point of view and alternate chapters are before the wedding giving a now and then. There is also the odd one by someone else to give the reader a hint of what is going on. I won’t say any more!

OMG! I raced through this. As with all Shalini’s books there is a wonderful air of tension and I couldn't help but like Alice. She knew something was wrong but nothing would prove it however she tried. There's a wonderful camaraderie of her friends being supportive doing what they can to see her through this. A fantastic premise that had me reeling and even picturing if it happened- how on earth would you prove it? A cleverly thought out plot which most definitely kept the pages turning ever faster. A stunning, reeling, thriller of a read.
