Snakes and Ladders- Adam Croft-Crime

A runner finds a body whilst going through Mildenhall woods. It's a young man

whose parents portray a very clean living well behaved picture of, however he

had his secrets. Knight and Culverhouse also have other problems- after one of

their colleagues was found to be losing information and in the pocket of one of

the most notorious criminals in the area, he is now refusing to testify thinking

it will protect his family. He is incarcerated whilst the major criminal puts his

feet up at home. This is part of a series but will stand alone- however some of

the main characters' background stories make more sense if the rest have been

read. Jack and Wendy, as ever, come across wonderfully. There is that magical

mix of character, tenacity, humour and personality- to me the signs of an

excellent author when a character makes you feel empathy or make you

smile. A nice amount of background story to give depth of character without

distracting from the main plot. A wonderful read that I enjoyed very much

and cant wait for the next in the series.
