If Shadows Could Tell (Aurora Steller Mystery Series)- Granthana Sinha- crime

A debut novel written in the style of a cozy crime set in a small town in the USA.

A journalist is found dead in a Gym pool but has drugs in her system- something

those who knew her said was not at all the sort of thing she would do and was a

decent swimmer so although the police have accepted acidental drowning it looks

like there may be murder afoot.. Aurora finds Janet's driving licence and decides

to find out more about what happened to Janet, despite the fact she only met her

once. This is a complicated plot with several subplots and very descriptive giving

it a slow burn mostly told from Aura’s point of view. Alternate chapters give us

snippets of information from other third parties, ones who are being held against

their will.

A credible book for a debut where editing and fine tuning will come with experience

to give a faster burn to keep the reader engaged- eg. the jumps between timelines

and twists along the way, fine tuning descriptions etc.

An enjoyable read and an author to lookout for in the future.
