Malignant- Anita Waller
Claudia and husband James have fairly recently lost their two day old daughter.
When James’s grief turns to violence against Claudia she decides that enough is
enough and it is time to get out- the marriage wasn't great up to that point anyway.
She discovers a mole on her shoulder that it bothering her due to its position and
goes to have it removed. Her neighbour Heather has a husband Owen who not only
drinks but is emptying the bank account in order to do so. She gives him an ultimatum
and when he doesn't take it seriously she moves out. Heather and Claudia discussed
their situations and made a plan should it be needed for moving out and then moving
in together. On the day Heather goes back to collect some belongings something
happens that puts them both in a very precarious position. One thing leads to another
and time is running out. Anita has done it again, You read a few pages, it grabs you by
the throat and you have to keep turning to find out what happens next. A whirlwind
of a read and a poignant one both in the book and the notes afterwards.
Anita - I salute you.
