They Disappeared- Joy Ellis- Crime (Jackman & Evans #7)
DI Rowan Jackson, his DS Marie and the team are finally breathing a sigh of
relief as their nemesis has finally been put away and they can stop looking
over their shoulder as they have done for so long. An Ex copper had a new
pastime a while ago- urbexing (urban exploring) and contacts the team as a
couple of people in that community have recently gone missing but it's not
quite on their patch and don;t want to tread on any toes. A couple of calls
to friends outside the patch reveals even more secrecy over one of the sites.
When one goes missing on their doorstep things are turned up a notch.
Orac the workaholic IT head hasn’t turned up for work- something she has
never ever done. No message, no way of contacting her- something is amiss.
The team has a scout around and thinks that she will contact Marie who is
the closest on the team to her, but why and where? There appears to be
very much more to Orac’s background than anyone would have thought and
they just hope she stays safe. I love Joy’s books. There's a very comforting
feeling in settling down with one of them. An excellent very well thought
out plot and characters you can’t help but take to. A mystery to keep the
grey matter active and nothing untoward too grisly and ghastly
(other than the odd murder!).
A stunning read, I thoroughly enjoyed it- possibly the best of Joys books
to date- and the rest are all 5*!
