The Child in my House- Lucy Lawrie- psychological thriller

Juliet is standing by the house of her childhood reminiscing in her head when she

sees a child alone in the garden. When she speaks to her the child says “ are you

police?” A short while later the police arrive and Kitty's mother comes out explaining

that she was meditating and that this isn't the first time that mute Kitty has called

them. One thing leads to another and Juliet becomes Kitty’s nanny living in her

old house-something she is keeping a secret. We know from occasional sentences

that there are issues in Juliet’s past with marriage and children but not quite

what. Kitty slowly shows Juliet her real self and that she is trying to communicate

something to her. Charlie an old school friend of Juliets who is now a GP also

thinks there is more than meets the eye. When an old adversary of both of them

appears the plot thickens and both Juliet and Kitty could be in danger

OMG!! For the first part of this it reads like a domestic situation with a slight air

of tension that there is something amiss but nothing obvious. Then Boom! I

won’t spoil anything but hang on for the ride! Wow! I didn’t see that coming.

A twist and a huge one and one I galloped through the pages for, to see what

happened- I was enthralled and gripped. From a calm sea with a possible

undercurrent to a tsunami.

This is my first book by this author- and Lucy is one certainly to look out for.

I very much look forward to her next book- but might need a seat belt!
