Absolution- Adam Croft & Steven Moore- Political thriller
Oh boy! The relief at going from an also ran read to this one. One where I am drawn
into the pages within a few turns and a plot and characters that are both interesting
and intriguing. The difference is beyond words. I’m not normally into political thrillers
as in the past both the plot and characters have been flat and uninteresting. This one
has turned my head in a big way. Adam has teamed up with Steven Moore for this
edge of your seat thriller and a brilliant combination it is too. Sam works at the Home
office in cyber security. He has a son who lives with his mother in Edinburgh and so Sam
only gets to see Benjamin occasionally. Sam has a fairly hum-drum life. He rents a flat,
has a sort of girlfriend in Dee and really doesn’t really do anything exciting. When one
day having forgotten to take a work colleague a birthday present he decides to quickly
take a detour en route to work and get her some flowers. One small change can change
your life. I won’t give any more of the plot away other than to say wow! What a clever
and brilliant premise. I loved Sam and how he had to wrangle with what he thought
was obvious and known all his life that had now changed. That there was more to
him than the main plot line. Jason and Dee with their subterfuge came across very
well and have a feeling there is more to come from them.  I very much look
forward to the rest of the series.
