Married Lies-Chris Collett- 5*
A woman has been found murdered and things are rather gruesome as to how she died.
A young woman is convinced that she is being followed and getting strange calls- however
nothing ever happens when her husband is there. Is she imagining it? Di Mariner,
Tom to his friends, is in the thick of it and as ever you take to him and his colleagues easily.
There is a little backstory but nothing that means this can’t be read as a stand alone
novel- then again why miss out on enjoying the other ones in the series? Chris writes
as if you know these people and after a few pages- you feel as if you do. Tom is
someone you would like on your side- thorough, tenacious and a bit of a character
with a sense of humour whilst maintaining a very human side to his profession.
He can be rather solitary but gets on well with his team. His personal life however
is another matter. One of those reads that you haven’t a clue as to whom to
perpetrator is until the very end. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
