-The Taking of Annie Thorn- CJ Tudor- Thriller/Contemporary horror
Joseph Thorn has returned to his childhood school- this time as an English teacher. He
has orchestrated the move for a reason. Slowly but surely his finds his old adversaries
who appear from the woodwork and he is threatened several times. He had a gambling
issue and there is also someone on his tail for a rather large debt which he is doing
his best to forget about. He has received messages relating to his past and his sister.
Annie died aged eight however shortly before she disappeared for forty eight hours.
He finds that this is not the first time that this has happened and going back over
literally old ground brings back memories and he starts to put the jigsaw together
however there is someone who would rather that he moved on both physically
and mentally. Oh boy! This is my first CJ Tudor book- what a story teller! I was
gripped just a few pages in and surprised myself at how quickly the pages were
turning. In a way I took to Joe as he wanted to find out the truth all the time
knowing he has several layers to him.but a deep down honesty and loyalty along
with acerbic wit. I devoured this and really didn’t want to put it down.
A slightly dark read, possibly airs of being supernatural or horror (but nothing
to give nightmares- just the odd chill if you are not a fan of insects!) .
One brilliant read.
